Volvo Car Malaysia announces upgrades for 2024 models

For its 2024 model year, Volvo Car Malaysia will be introducing updates and  changes to its range consisting of the XC90, XC60, S90, S60 and V60 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).

More powerful on-board charger
All 2024 PHEV models, to be available from this month, will come with a more powerful on-board charger (OBC) that can accept a power supply of up to 6.4 kW with 2-phase or 3-phase charging points. This will reduce charging times but the vehicle can also accept charging from a single-phase outlet which will then be at 3.6 kW.

Besides a new colour choice – Vapour Grey – exterior improvements will see a panoramic sunroof provided as a standard feature for all models.

The alloy wheels on certain models also have new designs. The S90 Recharge gets wheels with an 8-spoke wheel design, while the V60 Recharge and S60 Recharge will have a new 6-spoke version.

Free digital services for 5 years
While the auto industry is still trying to interest customers in options that can be paid for post-purchase and then activated, Volvo Car Malaysia will offer digital services such as Google Assistant, Google Maps, Google Play Store and Volvo Cars app remote functions for all new models at no charge for the first 5 years.

YouTube app available
All new 2024 models will also have the YouTube app available on the Google built-in infotainment systems. The app can only be used when the car is stationary, such as while charging or taking a break from the drive. Users can sign in to access video subscriptions and recommendations.

Eligible previous Volvo models running on the Google built-in infotainment system will also receive YouTube via an over-the-air (OTA) software update, which now also allows scheduled charging via the Volvo Cars app.

Moving forward towards goal
“Since the launch of the Volvo XC90 Recharge in 2016, the first-ever locally assembled plug-in hybrid in Malaysia, every vehicle we introduce brings us closer to our goal of becoming the leading maker of premium electric vehicles in the region,” said Charles Frump, Managing Director of Volvo Car Malaysia.

“The 2024 upgrades, especially the improved charging speed for our newest range of plug-in hybrids, provide drivers with more ownership over fully electric journeys and the confidence to take the first step towards a fully-electric future with Volvo,” he added.
