After 10 generations, the Honda Accord will no longer be offered in the Malaysian market officially after this current generation ends. Although there is a new 11th generation in some markets, Honda Malaysia’s Managing Director & CEO, Hironobu Yoshimura, today said that it will not be coming to Malaysia.
With the diminished volume of the D-segment, Honda Malaysia must see that it is no longer worthwhile to offer the model, especially since the company has it assembled locally.
The new generation will, however, be available in other neighbouring markets and, of course, there will be private importers bringing some in later on.
There is a hybrid version which could be imported from Thailand but since the government is not giving any incentives for hybrids and only for fully electric models, the price would be quite high.
While vacating the top end of its market segments, Honda Malaysia is now making an entry into the lower end of the market with the compact WR-V which was launched a few months back.
