2017 Honda Jazz Hybrid was first electrified model to win MCOTY

The BYD Seal is the first fully electric model to win the overall title in the Malaysia Car of the Year Awards (MCOTY) which has been running since 2002. However, the first model with an electrified powertrain to win an overall title was the Honda Jazz Hybrid in 2017.

Although the Jazz Hybrid, which was the first hybrid electric model assembled in Malaysia, is no longer on sale, Honda Malaysia today offers a range of e:HEV (Honda’s term for hybrid electric vehicles) models.

For the 2023 MCOTY, the overall winner was the Honda Civic e:HEV RS, reflecting the trend towards electrification in Malaysia.
