What’s so special about the Kicks
This new SUV is the first Nissan model in Malaysia to have e-POWER, Nissan’s electrified drivetrain which has the advantages and feel of a fully electric vehicle without the need to stop and recharge the battery.

Nissan e-POWER operation
Although there is a small petrol engine, it is used only for charging the battery. At all times, the Kicks is powered by the electric motor so it is just like a fully electric vehicle.

Although there is a small petrol engine, the vehicle is powered only by the electric motor and the function of the engine is to recharge the battery when necessary. Therefore, depending on driving conditions, the engine may not run at certain periods and this can save a lot of fuel. The consumption can be as good as 21.7 kms/litre which give a range of up to 900 kms on a full tank of 41 litres.

This chart shows how the e-POWER drivetrain is very fuel-efficient, even achieving a cost per kilometre that is lower than for a fully electric EV. The consumption data was averaged from the vehicles that members of the media drove from Petaling Jaya to Melaka. Actual consumption will vary from driver to driver depending on conditions and style of driving but this is indicative of just how economical the Kicks e-POWER can be.

Cumulative production of Nissan vehicles with e-POWER technology has passed 1.5 million units globally since the technology was introduced in 2016, initially in the Japanese market. Today, it is offered in various Nissan models in 68 countries which now include Malaysia.
