An updated version of the Mazda BT-50 pick-up truck will soon make its debut. As the lead market co-ordinating the global launch of the new model is Australia, the first picture (above) released originates from Mazda Australia.
The updates for the brand’s second best-selling model in Australia a comprehensive redesign inside and out, as well as significant enhancements to the Human-Machine Interface (HMI), associated safety and assistance systems and additional functionality.
The current third generation of the BT-50, introduced in 2020, is adapted from the current Isuzu D-MAX. As many will know, the BT-50 was originally a joint developed by Ford and Mazda for the first two generations. However, the two companies ended this collaboration, with Ford offering its latest Ranger to Volkswagen for its Amarok and Mazda turning to Isuzu for its BT-50.
Although Mazda has a jointly owned factory in Thailand (AAT, with Ford), the BT-50 is made at Isuzu’s factory as the model is essentially the same, with cosmetic differences that reflect Mazda’s design philosophy.
