Proton e.MAS 7 Tour starts this Saturday

The Proton e.MAS 7 Tour starts tomorrow (October 5) and this will be the first nationwide exposure of Proton’s first fully electric production model. The tour will cover a distance of over 2,000 kms, traversing every state in Malaysia.

The e.MAS 7 Tour follows on from the Geely E5 Long Test Drive from China to Malaysia – a distance of 3,700 kms – which demonstrated the durability and reliability of the MPV which was co-developed with the e.MAS 7 by Geely and Proton.

Electrifying Malaysia one km at a time
The first leg on the Tour brings the EV will start from Proton’s Centre of Excellence head office complex in Shah Alam, Selangor. It will head south to Negeri Sembilan (October 5), Melaka (October 6) and Johor (October 7). The Tour will then continue through other states in the peninsular and cross to East Malaysia to finish at the end of November.

With similar battery pack options as the E5, the e.MAS 7 should have a range of up to 530 kms. This will enable the SUV to travel some distance before recharging is needed. And when that is needed, there is a growing network of charging stations around the country to stop at.

Travelling in all Malaysian conditions
Like the prototypes now undergoing real-world testing in various areas, the e.MAS Tour vehicles will also travel in all kinds of conditions – certainly in rain which is a daily thing now – and this will demonstrate the EVs reliability and durability. It can even cross flooded stretches, as proven by the Geely team last month when they encountered such conditions during their drive through Indo-China.
