MazdaSports Academy Advanced Driving Courses in October

While a driving school teaches new drivers the basics of driving, once a person gets their licence, it is useful to learn additional skills that can make his or her motoring safer and with increased confidence behind the wheel, more enjoyable too.

Bermaz Motor’s MazdaSports Academy (established in 2016) periodically organises Advanced Driving courses for Mazda owners and the next sessions will be on October 26 and 27, 2024. As before, it will be held at one of the parking areas at MARDI in Serdang, outside Kuala Lumpur.

The course is a Level 1 course so it covers the basics of advanced driving, teaching drivers car control and how to respond correctly in emergencies. Being held in a closed area means that it is a safe environment and should you skid or spin on the wet surfaces, you may get a big scare but at least you won’t hit anything or anyone.

Experiencing ‘jinba-ittai’
Some of the exercises like driving through slaloms will allow drivers to experience what Mazda calls ‘jinba-ittai’. This is designed into every Mazda and refers to the ‘unity’ between man and machine, just as a skilled rider is one with his horse.

An important lesson which is usually taught at the start of all advanced driving courses is the seating position. This may not seem important but how you sit – and also how you hold the steering wheel – can make a difference in how you can control the car in an emergency.

MazdaSports Academy driving courseThere are two 1-day sessions to choose from (Saturday or Sunday), and they last from 8:30 am to 5 pm. Participants have to use their own vehicles (Mazda, of course) and only one person will be trained in each participating vehicle.  Although some courses have vehicles provided, it’s better to do the course with your own vehicle as it is the one which you are familiar with.

Limited slots
If you are interested, you should apply early as only a limited number of applications will be accepted on a first come-first served basis. Applicants have to pay a RM100 commitment fee and will receive a goodie bag at the event.
