BMW Group Malaysia, in partnership with TOC Automotive College, has announced the first batch of five graduates from the BMW Technical Trainee Programme (BTTP). Setting new benchmarks in automotive training, the programme aims to equip Malaysia’s next generation of specialised technicians with world-class, cutting-edge knowledge and skills.
Designed to meet the international standards of both the German Chamber of Commerce and the BMW Group, the BTTP is an extensive 3½-year course that combines dedicated classroom instruction with BMW-specific training, ensuring that students gain the latest technical knowledge and unique diagnostic skills.
12-month apprenticeship training
The programme also includes a 12-month apprenticeship training, where students gain practical experience through a hands-on learning approach. Graduates of the BTTP will earn a Diploma in Automotive Technology from TOC Automotive College, accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency alongside a certificate from BMW Group Malaysia.
This dual certification ensures that BTTP graduates are recognised for their advanced skills and are well-poised for career opportunities within the automotive industry.
Broad scope of collaboration
BMW Group Malaysia and TOC Automotive College’s collaboration extends beyond the BTTP and includes previous projects such as engine donations to the college for research and development, as well as the integration of TOC Automotive College alumni into BMW Group Malaysia’s dealership network as interns and apprentices.
“A core belief we hold at the BMW Group is that the foundation of delivering the Premium Ownership Experience begins with investing in exceptional talent. Our exclusive partnership with TOC Automotive College has been a crucial step in nurturing the next generation of local talent to lead in automotive technology. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our first five BTTP graduates, who have not only met the world-class standards of the BMW Group, but are also poised to excel in the evolving automotive landscape,” said Benjamin Nagel, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia.
