Temerario – successor to the Lamborghini Huracan

The future of Lamborghini is electrified and as it transitions into a range of fully electric models some day in the future, it is now focussed on High Performance Electrified Vehicles (HPEVs) with hybrid electric powertrains.

Following the Revuelto which debuted in March 2023 as a successor to the Aventador, now comes from Temerario as a successor to the Huracan, and complementing the Urus SE. The name follows a tradition started by Ferrucio Lamborghini of using the names of famous bulls; in this case, Temerario is one which fought in 1875 and was described as ‘fierce’ and ‘courageous’.

The new hybrid powertrain combines an entirely new twin-turbo 4-litre V8 engine with three electric motors. The newly developed engine can spin up to 10,000 rpm and produce peak power of 789 bhp  between 9,000 rpm and 9,750 rpm, with 730 Nm of torque generated between 4,000 rpm and 7,000 rpm.

As for the electric part, one motor is integrated in the V8 engine unit, located between the engine and the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. This motor produces 148 bhp/300 Nm and acts as a start-generator.

Two more electric motors drive the front wheels, with total output of 295 bhp/up to 2,150 Nm, providing 4-wheel drive for the Temerario. The total output from the electrified powertrain is rated at 907 bhp which Lamborghini says can send the supercar to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds and up to a maximum speed over 210 km/h.

Electricity for the motors is supplied by a 3.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack which can be recharged as the engine runs, or also from an external power supply.

Also entirely new is the aluminium chassis which uses a cutting-edge high-strength, ultra-light alloy. This significantly increases torsional rigidity and contributes to excellent driving dynamics. The chassis is also said to provide excellent passenger comfort and increased roominess, with more space for passengers and luggage than any other vehicle in its segment.

“The Temerario is a genuine ‘fuoriclasse’: a car in a league of its own, an extraordinary and innovative vehicle both from a technical and stylistic point of view,” declared Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman & CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “Every new Lamborghini must surpass its forerunners in performance terms while, at the same time, being more sustainable from an emissions standpoint.”

“With the Temerario, we have completed a key chapter in the electrification strategy included in our Direzione Cor Tauri plan: we also become the first luxury automotive brand to offer a completely hybridized range,” he added.

This being just a preview, technical details are limited and it has not been revealed when production will start. It may be officially launched at the end of this year with deliveries starting in 2025 but now that it has been revealed, Lamborghini dealers must be getting orders already.
