Lotus Cars Malaysia launches Emeya EV at new Flagship Store

Lotus Cars Malaysia today officially opened its first Flagship store in Kuala Lumpur at the Temasya Industrial Park in Glenmarie, Shah Alam, Selangor. The Flagship Store, with an overall floor space of 1,765 sq ft, complements the Lotus Store at Pavilion Damansara Heights which was opened in February this year.

The personalisation options include for the Lotus Dynamic Handling Pack with 4-wheel steer capabilities, and additional Driving Aid features such as the Parking Pack and Highway Assist Pack.

The opening event was accompanied by the official launch of the fully-electric Emeya Hyper-GT in Malaysia. This is the brand’s very first electric and four-door Hyper-GT, engineered and built from the ground-up to become a true driver’s car.Lotus Emeya EV [2024]

Lotus Cars Malaysia is importing three versions of the Emeya, with prices ranging from RM555,000 to RM777,000. The prices are for registration in Peninsular Malaysia and do not include insurance. Until the end of 2025, they can be imported and also sold duty-free throughout Malaysia as the government’s incentive to popularise electric vehicles.

The Emeya is made in China as Lotus is part of the Geely Group. Every new Emeya comes with a 5-year/150,000 km manufacturer’s warranty, while the battery comes with an 8-year/200,000 km warranty.

The Emeya’s electric drivetrain has a dual-motor configuration and an advanced single-speed transmission (dual speed for the Emeya R) that works in tandem with race-grade braking.

Output rated between 603 hp and 905 hp with 710 Nm to 985 Nm of torque capable of delivering a top speed of more than 250 km/h and claimed 0 – 100 km/h acceleration in 4.2 seconds (under 2.78 seconds for the Emeya R). This would place it in the exclusive realm amongst the fastest electric GTs in the world.

A range of up to 610 kms is claimed, depending on the version, but as with petrol-engined cars, how far you go depends on how you drive and other conditions.

The battery pack can take in enough electricity to extend the car’s range by 150 km in just 5 minutes. From 10% to 80%, it is said to take 18 minutes. However, these times are based on a high-speed 350 kW DC charger and will vary when using chargers with a less powerful supply.

Like all Lotus models, the interior is minimalist but with environmental issues being of much concern, there is a conscious emphasis on reducing Lotus’ carbon footprint. This is achieved with the clever choice of sustainable and durable materials.

The materials include a new luxury thread made from repurposed fibres from the fashion industry, PVD aluminium, Alcantara, Nappa leather, and Ultrafabrics PU – all of which are also sustainably sourced. The combination of these materials for the cabin upholstery also results in weight-saving benefits.
