2024 is certainly a year of motorshows in Malaysia; after the Malaysia Autoshow and International Automodified/Malaysia Motor Expo events, there are still two more big ones to come. Before the KL International Mobility Show (previously known as KL International Motor Show) in December, the Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur (TASKL) will return for the second consecutive year.
The event will be held from November 8 – 10 at the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC) along Jalan Dutamas 2 in Kuala Lumpur.
Only official Tokyo Auto Salon outside Japan
TASKL is currently the only official ‘replica’ of the Tokyo Auto Salon which is held annually in Japan. First held in 1983, it is now a platform for vehicle manufacturers as well as aftermarket accessories and performance parts companies to showcase their latest products and technologies.
Element X Strategies is the licensee for the Malaysian event with MUSE Group Asia as the co-organizer. Also collaborating is San Ei Corporation as the owner of the Tokyo Auto Salon intellectual property, and the Tokyo Auto Salon Federation.
Impressive crowd numbers
More than 91,000 car enthusiasts and visitors visited the inaugural TASKL last year. According to MUSE Group Asia CEO Riduwan Matni, the Japanese tuners and exhibitors were impressed by the reception of Malaysian fans in 2023.
The event had 130,000 sq. feet of floor space which will be enlarged to 170,000 sq. feet for this year. Well known brands like Top Secret, Spoon, HKS and GReddy will be present, along with a fleet of showcars specially brought over from Japan.
“This year’s Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur promises to be an even more exciting, bigger and supercharged experience for visitors and exhibitors. Like the original show in Japan, a great deal of effort has gone into ensuring that the exhibits this year continue to supersede the expectations of fans,” said Element X Strategies Director & CEO, Jason Yap.
