Lotus Cars (majority owned by Geely since 2017 although a Malaysian company still has 49%) has been steadily growing its presence again in Malaysia. The British brand, once owned by Proton, is a niche premium sportscar brand and has opened its first Lotus Store at Pavilion Damansara Heights in Kuala Lumpur.
Located in an upscale area (where Tesla also has an Experience Centre), the Lotus Store at Pavilion Damansara Heights will be followed by the opening of a flagship showroom in Glenmarie, Shah Alam, Selangor during the second quarter of 2024.
“The new era for Lotus Cars Malaysia began in 2018 with the establishment of a full-fledged aftersales service outlet in Shah Alam. But as you can see with the time taken to open the new Lotus Store, our growth and brand presence has been a gradual but methodical approach. Here, the process of reintroducing the brand not only involved reassuring existing Lotus customers that we are here to care for their needs, but it was also paramount to have them and new potential customers accept, understand and embrace the new Lotus philosophy and global direction to build premium and top-tier vehicles without having to compromise on the Lotus ideals, namely the pure enjoyment of driving,” said Lotus Cars Malaysia General Manager, Jack Zaal.
Addtional showrooms in other regions
“Lotus Cars Malaysia’s pace for expansion will also exponentially accelerate to not only have a greater footprint in the top-tier market segment but to provide customers with greater access to the brand,” said Mr. Zaal.
He added that there are plans to further extend the Lotus footprint to the northern and southern regions, and offer a Lotus Mobile Service Solution for even greater customer convenience.
The Lotus brand is represented in Malaysia by Lotus Karz Sdn Bhd as the sole importer, distributor and provider of aftersales service as well as spare parts. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of KARRUS Automotive, an importer of premium new, used and classic cars.
