BRABUS is well known for the supercars it has developed over more than 4 decades, many of which are based on Mercedes-Benz models (but not confined to the brand). With the new ROCKET 1000 “1 of 25”, the company – which is recognised as a vehicle manufacturer by the German Federal Motor Transport Authority – continues this tradition with its first supercar that produces 1,000 horsepower.
Based on the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE 4-door coupe, only 25 units will be available with ex-factory prices from 450,000 euros (RM2.32 million).
Technically, the powertrain is the same as the Mercedes-AMG model which is a hybrid type with a combustion engine and electric motor. However, the BRABUS engineers have already many years of experience to increase the performance of electrified powertrains. Firstly, the displacement of the V8 Biturbo engine was increased (to 4.5 litres) and produces 157 bhp more than the production engine, while the electric motor generates 150 kW/204 bhp.
In addition to a host of BRABUS performance components, the BRABUS engine is also fitted with a custom turbocharging system comprising two BRABUS high-performance turbos that produce a maximum boost pressure of 1.4 bar.
The system output totals 736 kW/1,000 bhp – which makes this model the first BRABUS with 1,000 bhp. Even more massive is the increase in peak torque from 1,470 Nm to 1,820 Nm; but the maximum is limited to 1,620 Nm to protect the driveline.
With these output levels, the ROCKET 1000 is said to be able to go from standstill to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds and up to 300 km/h in 23.7 seconds. It has a top speed beyond 316 km/h but is limited to that speed electronically.
To emphasise its impressive performance are enhanced looks and more efficient aerodynamics. The widebody version possesses the BRABUS ‘1-Second-Wow’ effect and has a number of elements made from exposed carbonfibre with a high-gloss clear coat finish.
Under the carbonfibre fenders are newly developed king-sized BRABUS Monoblock P hi-tech forged wheels of size 10.5Jx21 at the front and size 12Jx22 on the rear axle. The high-performance SportContact7 tyres up to size 335/25 ZR 22 at the rear are supplied by Continental.
The integrated exposed-carbonfibre spoiler with raised flaps at the sides reduces front-axle lift at high speeds. The large air intakes with exposed-carbonfibre aero blades route the airflow to the radiators and front brakes.
The rear end of the BRABUS ROCKET 1000 has a distinct multi-piece rear wing and the BRABUS rear diffuser, with 4 carbon-jacketed titanium exhaust pipes. This combination is said to produce significantly increased aerodynamic downforce at high speeds.
For all 25 cars, BRABUS offers its exclusive MASTERPIECE interior. The designers selected black leather, with black Dinamica synthetic fibre used for the headliner. The leather seats and inner sections of the door panels feature the ‘Ellipse’ quilting pattern applied with the same pinpoint precision as the exceedingly accurate perforations. Some elements in the interior feature a ‘Heritage’ brand pattern with embossed ‘7’ logos to commemorate the year 1977, the founding year of BRABUS.
Numerous parts in the cockpit of cars picture are fitted with elaborate glazing. They range from switches to surrounds. All elements in the vehicle can be in ‘’Superblack’ paint finish or coated ‘ROCKET RED’. BRABUS aluminium door pins and pedals round off the decidedly sporty flavour.
