Tesla’s Model Y, which was the first of the automaker’s models to officially enter the Malaysian market in 2023, has undergone an update after 4 years in the world market. A limited launch edition is available and it can now be booked in Malaysia too. Two versions are available – rear-wheel drive and Long Range – with prices starting from RM195,450 and RM242,450, respectively.
Updates include a new bespoke ‘cyber design’ with the new cross car lightbar at the front and the all-new rear light bar and tailgate which are inspired by the Cybercab and Cybertruck, respectively, with a new exterior colour called Glacier Blue.
The launch edition of the new Model Y comes with various unique designs, including a customized launch badge at the rear, puddle light badge and doorsill plate ‘launch’ wordmark that welcomes occupants every time when entering the vehicle.
Apart from the exclusive exterior styling, the charging console and the floormats come with a special launch design with silver accents, and an all-black vegan suede interior trim.
According to Tesla Malaysia, the new Model Y has a noticeably quieter cabin with double-layer glass for all windows and the panoramic glass roof. The large overhead panel is made of silver-coated glass to further reduce the UV rays and heat entering the cabin.
Tesla also introduces the newly designed wheels and a rear diffuser to reduce air resistance and optimize the lift balance between the front and rear wheels. This enhances rear-wheel downforce delivering a quieter, more stable, and highly efficient experience at high speeds.
Signature features in the Model 3, such as ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, and second-row display for passengers are also available in the new Model Y. The occupants can now easily press a button to adjust the position or fold down the rear passenger seats.
