A severe vehicle pile-up occurred in Putrajaya this morning when a lorry crashed into several vehicles. The lorry was said to have tried to suddenly switch lanes after the driver realised that traffic on the highway had been stopped unexpectedly by police to allow a convoy to move freely.
The lorry was unable to brake after trying to avoid the immobile vehicles and crashed into some of them. In all, 5 cars, 3 motorcycles and 2 other lorries were damaged. A police outrider’s motorcycle was also hit and two of the motorcyclists died on the spot.
The accident occurred from the direction of the IOI City Mall heading towards Putrajaya, resulting on road closures and vehicle diversions.
