As with other highways in Peninsular Malaysia, the E32 West Coast Expressway (WCE) will also see high volumes of traffic during the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive period. According to the highway concessionaire, estimated average daily traffic on the WCE could exceed 140,000 vehicles throughout the festive period.
According to Syed Mohammed Idid, WCE’s General Manager of Strategic Communications and Stakeholder Engagement, this increase is due to the growing reliance on WCE as a key alternative route.
“Before the opening of Section 6 (Asam Jawa) on November 20, 2023, WCE’s daily traffic stood at approximately 60,000 vehicles. Since the full alignment in Perak became operational, this figure has increased to 70,000 vehicles daily. With the festive season approaching, we anticipate more than 140,000 vehicles per day, particularly along the main route from Taiping Selatan to Banting,” he said.
95% completed
As of February 2025, 95% of the WCE project has been completed, with several key sections already opened to enhance connectivity and facilitate smoother travel. The newly opened sections are:
Section 1 (12.5 kms) – Connecting Banting to SKVE, opened on August 31, 2024
Section 2 (7.2 kms) – Connecting SKVE to KESAS, opened on January 22, 2025

In Perak, Sections 8 to 11, spanning 99.2 kms, are fully operational, serving as a vital corridor for travellers heading north.
Essential facilities including charging stations
Motorists using the WCE will have access to essential facilities at rest-stops with EV charging stations available at the Taiping Selatan, Trong, Assam Jawa, and SAE Rest Areas.

Those travelling on the WCE can obtain the latest traffic updates and travel advisories on WCE’s official social media channels, website, or the WCE App.
